If NFL Cheerleaders Are In The “Cloud,” Are They Angels?

on Thursday, 02 February 2012. Posted in Public Relations Blog

This question may not be as absurd as it actually sounds. Over the past year, NFL teams such as the Baltimore Ravens and the Dallas Cowboys, have been sacking their outmoded method of backing up game plays and yes, cheerleader footage, in favor of offsite IT data backup , cloud backup and data center solutions.  And to the CIOs of these NFL teams I say, "Thank you for releasing the necessary budget for backing up the cheerleader footage, so it doesn't end up buried among dirty diapers and discarded watermelon rinds in landfills."

After all, the iPad now comes with iCloud as a standard application to backup all my data off-site – – so it stands to reason that NFL teams should drop on-site, tape storage in favor of a more modern cloud-based, IT disaster recovery solution.  Who wants to lose precious moments such as the 1977 Dallas Cowboys’ cheerleading squad appearing on ABC's the Osmond Brothers Special, the 1978 squad featured in a Faberge shampoo commercial and kicking off the season for Monday Night Football by hosting their own one-hour Special on ABC titled, The 36 Most Beautiful Girls in Texas.

Sometimes it takes an act of God to save an angel, “The turning point was a data loss that happened during football season which made us realize that our tape system was not only cumbersome but also not reliable when we needed it most,” said Bill Jankowski, VP of Information Technology for the Baltimore Ravens.

Other times it's just a matter of breaking down in frustration, "We grew increasingly frustrated by the numerous hours of maintenance required by our archaic data backup system, which simply didn't offer the modern features and reliability to support our new virtualized data center," said Bill Haggard, Director, Enterprise Infrastructure, Dallas Cowboys.

It doesn't really matter what the reason is, due to reliable cloud-based data backup systems such as Venyu’s RestartIT, we can all sleep soundly knowing that future generations will be able to experience present-day cheerleader choreography.

Now that's a great use of the “cloud” – viva NFL angels in the cloud!

ALL ..The NFL set this schedule in april iindulncg the 4:15 games for the first 10 weeks of the season. They had no idea what teams records would be.Startiong week 11 the NBC game can be flexed, The networks can change games to 4:15 for their doubleheader games. the only games that are designated with a late start are the game hosted on the west coast and The Jets/Giants game if both play on sunday will play in opposite time slots (a couple of weeks late the jets game is at 4:15 against Miami and Pittsburgh)there have been a few games the networks haver already decided to protect by shifting the start time to 4:15pmsome of these games are:week 11: indy @ new england (CBS)week 12: none declared yet (FOX)week 13: Dallas @ indy (FOX)week 14: none decided yet (CBS)week 15: none decided jet (CBS)week 16: none decided yet (FOX)week 17: none decided yet (CBS & FOX) Based on the schedule only week 16 as of now looks like a game would be flexed. the rest of the games should be safe games unless you happen to have an unexpected game of 2 surprise 8-3 teams.

larry-i think you are just being overly pciyaune. he flew next to jets. you can see the picture.all your nonsense about jet speed and range etc is just a silly straw man.it's not like anyone claimed this was a new way to commute.clearly he DID fly next to jets. you can see the pictures. the wing will do 300 kph (180mph) in a shallow dive, way over most jets stall speeds.you are making all kinds of bizarre tinfoil hat claims that he didn't, when he very clearly did.look at the wings on those jets. they are straight, not swept. such wings allow for slower flight without stall. hell, you can do the same in an f-14 and that's a really heavy plane. ever watch the blue angels? they can fly VERY slowly.you seem to be making up a whole pile of claims that no one made and then objecting to them.seems like you are just chasing your tail for no reason i can figure out.FWIW, a warthog has a stall speed of 120. it's also incredibly heavy because it is armored and carries a huge amount of weaponry.take out the cannot and the hardened carry points and make the engines smaller and lighter as a result, and stall speed would drop under 100, easily within reach of this wing.it seems like you just want to get your knickers in a twist for some reason.what was misleading?what inaccurate claims were made anywhere but in your mind?
